Tisshaws strengthen their cyber-security credentials

Tisshaws Family Law Solicitors are delighted to announce they have gained Cyber Essentials certification, a government-backed scheme designed to help protect companies against the threat of cyber-attack.

As family solicitors, the protection and confidentiality of clients’ personal data is fundamental to our relationship with clients, both as a matter of law and ethics. As such, we comply with both UK and EU data protection laws and with the Solicitors Regulation Authority rules on client and data confidentiality.

As part of our commitment to keep client data secure, we have put in place physical, electronic and operational policies and procedures designed to safeguard and secure the information we collect and hold. The Cyber Essentials certification is part of this drive to protect client information.

While many companies feel they are unlikely to be targeted, the Cyber Security Breaches Survey (2019) found that 32% of businesses and 22% of charities had been targeted in the past 12 months.

Cyber-attacks can take the form of malware, ransomware, phishing, password guessing and network attacks. To gain Cyber Essentials certification we have put in place enhanced security features to protect our system and our clients’ personal data from the threat posed by hackers.
