The Perfect Storm for UK Businesses

The first six months of 2022 saw many businesses bounce back from the pandemic, however, the combination of high inflation, spiralling energy costs, and a European war are now providing the perfect storm for UK businesses as they emerge from a challenging previous two years of trading. it

A recent business survey conducted by the ONS suggests that a quarter of businesses reported that their production and/or suppliers had been affected by recent increases in energy prices, the most affected being the accommodation and food service industries where 56% report disruption due to rising energy prices. But it isn’t just energy costs that are having a disruptive effect.

With inflation in the mid-teens and the disruption of global supply chains as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine, it is no surprise that the cost of delivery for many businesses has risen dramatically.
