01 Jun Specsavers Haywards Heath looks to recruit as restrictions ease
Specsavers Haywards Heath are currently on the lookout for two new trainee optical assistants to join the team at the busy South Road store.
The new roles, created to reflect increased demand for eye tests since restrictions started to ease, do not require any previous optical experience at all – so could be the perfect chance to start a new career with Specsavers, whatever applicants have previously done for a living.
Jay Spiller, store director at Specsavers Haywards Heath, said: ‘We’re really pleased to be in a position to create these new roles.
‘We pride ourselves on offering a supportive working environment where the sky is the limit in terms of career development, and there really couldn’t be a better time to join the team as restrictions start to ease and we get busier and busier.’
Jay, who managed the East Grinstead store before becoming a partner and store director at Haywards Heath, knows first-hand that a job at Specsavers can lead to a great career opportunity.
The pandemic has proved especially difficult for retail workers, with thousands of jobs lost since the first lockdown last March. Two-thirds of those who lost their job were under 25, but Jay is keen to point out that age is no object for the new roles at Specsavers.
Optical assistant Martin has been at Specsavers Haywards Heath for several years. He said: ‘I’ve learnt so much in my time at Specsavers so far. It’s a really great place to work and I’m happy to have found a stable role in an area where I can develop and learn more over time.’
Jay adds: ‘We would also be interested in potentially recruiting to these roles as apprenticeships, so if they would be of interest to you or someone you know, please get in touch with me by email on email@example.com.
‘Expanding our team is great news for our customers, as it will mean we can see more people more quickly. We know a lot of people missed their eye tests during lockdown despite the fact that we stayed open for care throughout, so if that was you, you should book in to see us as soon as possible.’
