On the 14th March 2019, MSDC hosted its annual Open4Business 2019 at the Harland’s Road college site, Hayward’s Heath. The event returned with a new theme, this being ‘Skills and Apprenticeships’ and featured an exhibition involving 24 businesses and partners.
In addition to the exhibition, a dedicated speaker programme was also featured at the event, offering further promotion of local business in Mid Sussex and exploring all topics surrounding skills. The programme topics include; busting myths about apprenticeships, the importance of STEM skills and the launch of the Young Apprentice Ambassador Network. The speaker programme was delivered by a range of expert speakers and local business within Mid Sussex and surrounding areas including; STEM Learning, Steve Willis Training, Gatwick Diamond Business, Sussex Innovation Centre, TR Fastenings, Sussex Skills Solutions and the Young Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network (YAAN).
The programme also included an exclusive talk from the Chichester College Group’s Chief Executive, Shelagh Legrave and Managing Director, Julie Kapalis. Both of which discussed the CCG’s future plans for the college site including an overview of the delivery schedule for the new college, courses it is proposed to offer and other services which will benefit residents of Mid Sussex in their educational journeys.
Accompanying the expert speaker programme, the event also featured a pop-up student café, hosted by the catering students at Crawley College. They offered a variety of catering services, complimented by students who are on the path to completing their qualification within the catering industry.
