New member – Our HR People

Richard Bignell, BA, MCIPD, has hit the ground running in his new role as the Director of ourHRpeople (West Sussex). Based in Haywards Heath, he is now running ourHRpeople (West Sussex) after working in human resources in a corporate environment for 24 years.

Richard started his career working in logistics for GEFCO UK (a wholly owned subsidiary of PSA Peugeot Citroen) as an HR generalist and then moving to specialise in employee relations. He then worked at EDF Energy, American Airlines and Adecco UK, where he was promoted to Head of HR Business Partnering, a fully strategic role, focussing on delivery of the company’s retention and engagement strategy. For the last six years, Richard has worked at ICG Medical, a global healthcare recruitment company across 12 locations worldwide as the Global People Director overseeing all of HR, L&D and talent acquisition. Richard is proud to have been instrumental in the company’s growth from 160 employees to 850.

Across his career, Richard has built his HR, conflict resolution and employee relations skills, working on cases at all levels up to and including those regarding serious discrimination, at employment tribunal. He counts his greatest achievements as ensuring that the bespoke HR service that he provides is based on understanding what success looks like for the specific business he is working with, and building and maintaining lasting relationships with all key stakeholders in order for any HR offering that he provides to be right for the organisation. Richard is hugely proud to have been responsible for defining what success looks like at Office Angels. Through the use of various methods, including the utilisation of psychometric tools, he was able to define what good looked like and identify clear predictors of success. This enabled Richard to create a hiring model for the business to use when recruiting talent into the business.

Along with offering all core HR activities, ourHRpeople will partner with you to grow your business, whether that is by conducting an HR audit and identifying priorities or by running HR and Mangement training courses to help grown your talent from within.

In addition we all know that on occasion, conflict can enter the workplace When it does it is critical that it is managed in the best way possible. This is where workplace mediation from ourHRpeople comes in. Whatever the reason for the conflict, ourHRpeople can provide an accredited workplace mediator to work with all parties and ensure an outcome that will translate into a more engaged and productive workforce.

We also offer coaching for newly qualified or promoted HR professionals, these individuals often have the knowledge to succeed, however sometimes lack the confidence, commercial understanding or experience to act as a true partner to your business; often struggling to put into practice, what they have learnt. We’ll work with you and your HR professional by arranging ongoing coaching and mentoring tailored to your needs.
