Tickerage quality sparkling English Wines and Cyder are hand-crafted by Zena and Anthony Budd from our boutique Sussex vineyard. We specialise in creating small batch runs of hand-crafted Sussex sparkling wines of distinction including a Blush, Blanc de Blancs and Classic Cuvée and Cyder that have in depth flavours due to their minimum 5 years lees ageing.
We are a husband and wife team, whose passion for wine lead Anthony to retrain in Viticulture at world renowned Plumpton College in 2005-6 before embarking on becoming vineyard owner-producers. We knew our passion lay in the cultivation and harvesting of grapes and we set out to find a family home with land suitable for our intended journey.
In total we have 3 fields under vine - comprising 45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier grapes- surrounded by East Sussex/Wealden countryside with far reaching views towards the Ashdown forest. Our passion is to make authentic and sustainable sparkling wines with minimal intervention and depths of flavours that excite the palate.
As we live on-site, we lovingly tend to our vines on a daily basis and carefully cultivate the Classic Champagne varieties from grape to bottle in our new on-site winery with tasting room. We only use our hand-picked estate grapes to make Tickerage long lees aged wines.
Our vineyard size and location means we can personally carry out all the tasks throughout the vineyard year and this enables us to have full control of the development of the vines, and ultimately the wines. Anthony spends all his time tending the vines and creating delicious Tickerage in our new purpose built winery. I am a trained teacher - who has spent over 15 years working in local East Sussex schools - before taking a career break to spread the word about our bespoke range of Sparkling Wines and Cyder.
Despite over a decade’s experience as bespoke grower-producers, we continually strive to improve our skills, knowledge and the Tickerage experience. This includes offering bespoke tastings and tours if this would be of interest for your customers. We like people to feel part of our family, so our tasting and tours include having the opportunity to sit on our decking looking out at the vines and rolling East Sussex Country beyond whilst enjoying a glass or two of Tickerage.
